Hi! This is the section where you learn more about who the heck I even am and whether or not you should be booking me for my services.
On Feb 10th, 2016, I started my first budget and decided to give this whole “debt-free journey” thing a shot. I was going on my second deployment with the U.S. Army and didn’t have much planned for life after coming home. I knew that during deployment, I would have a steady income with low cost of living and wanted to take control of my finances. During that deployment, I paid off all my credit cards, furniture, and a brand new jeep that I’d bought in 2015. I was also able to save a six-month emergency fund, since I was not sure about a job when I came home.
After I came home, I kept budgeting. I FAILED along the road while paying cash for my remaining undergraduate degree and currently for my graduate school. I OVERSPENT plenty of times. No matter how I did the month before, every month was a fresh start to reach my DREAMS. I made amazing connections on this journey and am so proud of the friends I have made along the way. On April 20th, 2018, I became debt-free. In 2 years, 2 months, and 10 days I paid off $88,293.34.
A lot of things happened along the way: I got out of the Army after 6+ years, moved back home, was unemployed, completed my undergrad degree and started my master’s. I battled with PTSD and anxiety. I self- destruct at times but I always come back to this quote:
“A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.”
After paying off my debt, I wanted to help others reach this level of financial awareness. Money is still something that is not openly spoken about in many cultures and I wanted to change that. I want to be the accountability buddy who could use her knowledge to help guide your journey towards your financial goals. I want to cheer you on while also having the hard money conversations with you. So let's go on this journey together. Isn't everything always more fun when you aren't going at it alone?
